The Allure of High-End Apartment Rentals in Singapore

From city views to private pools: The best of Singapore's high-end rental market.

There’s a reason why Crazy Rich Asians is set in Singapore (well, also because the writer is Singaporean). Singapore has long attracted the moneyed crowd with low taxes and ease of doing business. But after they tire from shopping up and down Orchard Road or Marina Bay Sands, they return to their exclusive, expensive apartment rentals in Singapore. Here’s a taste of what it’s like to rent some of the most expensive places to rent in Singapore.

Rental Prices for High-end Property Rentals: A Guessing Game

When you’re operating at that level, it’s difficult to have average rents as a bellwether because any fluctuation can disproportionately affect the averages. Most of the housing stock for luxury properties already command a high premium. Not to mention, most high-net-worth individuals have a very different mindset from the rest of us. For some, a S$6,000 monthly rent is considered expensive. But rents at this 4-bedroom apartment at District 1 go up to SGD$45,000 a month. After all, these are the kinds of people that can take a $11 million loss on their homes.

And you can have a similar 3-bedroom apartment but differ as much as SGD$6,000 between them. This 3-bedroom at Skyline @ Orchard Boulevard  lists its rent as S$16,000, boasting its proximity to Orchard Road. But the 3-bedder at 8 Napier is going for SGD$22,000, even if it’s further from the city centre, and is only 300 sq ft larger than the former unit.

Location isn’t Everything

Of course, these Singapore condo rentals have some of the most coveted postcodes in Singapore. If you stay at these apartment rentals, you can hop to Raffles Place or Marina Bay without the help of public transportation.

Globe-trotting expat families will enjoy easy access to some of the best public and international schools in Singapore: such as Raffles Girls School, Hwa Chong Institution, and Tanglin Trust School. Luxury properties in the city centre get to enjoy convenient commutes to a few of Singapore’s most recognisable arts universities in Singapore too, like the School of the Arts (SOTA). Lasalle College of the Arts, and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

But having a newfangled MRT may not boost rental prices of these high-end condominiums by that much. If we’re going all the way, the Good-Class Bungalows command the highest rental prices in Singapore. Yet, most of the time, there is no MRT station in sight.

High-Class Amenities

We’re sure you can already imagine—spacious living spaces, designer furnishings, resplendent views, decadent outdoor pools, and freshly mawn lawns—the sky-high monthly rent for these luxurious condominiums reflects all those perks, and more. Of course, you’d have to cough up a pretty coin for the maintenance fees.

Some of these Singapore luxury condo rentals have ritzy amenities within the apartment itself. This listing boasts a master suite with not only an ensuite bathroom (with a bathtub), but a luxurious steam room, an outdoor rain shower and his-and-hers walk-in wardrobes too.

If you have $18,000 to spare every month, you can even rent 3-bedroom apartment in Reignwood Hamilton Scotts with an en-suite sky garage. Yes, you can park your Lamborghini right by your living room. Or do you want your very own swimming pool in your private accommodation rental in Singapore? You get to if you rent an apartment at The Marq—for $100,000 a month.

Architectural Marvels

To lure in the very well-endowed, property developers in Singapore often hire star architects, or ‘starchitects’, to create luxury real estate. Like its cosmopolitan cousins, Singapore’s skyline is forever striking because of this. After all, these starchitects don’t just craft beautiful buildings, but create landmarks in their own right.

There is a litany of these architectural marvels in and around downtown Singapore. If you’re walking around Orchard Road, from the corner of Tang’s, you just might spot TwentyOne Anguilla Park. Its bold, hulking lines are thought of by the esteemed local architect SCDA, which designed The Marq too. Heatherwick Studio, who is behind the new Terminal 5 at Changi Airport, designed EDEN, which striking design moved one single buyer to purchase all 20 units in this condo for a princely sum of S$293 million.

MetroResidences has Singapore serviced apartments nestling within these iconic structures as well. We have serviced apartments in V on Shenton, designed by UNS, a global architectural studio that has gone on to design Doha’s Metro Network.  Duo Residences is another distinctive development in which we’re proud to have apartments. It’s designed by Büro Ole Scheeren, the minds behind The Interlace and The Scotts Tower.

Conclusion

The high life is not to be trifled with. These extravagant abodes offer more than just creature comfort. Every moment of life is elevated in the glorious halls of these high-end apartment rentals in Singapore. Of course, there are apartment rentals in Singapore with more affordable prices. If you’re looking for a long-term accommodation rental in Singapore,  we have plenty of options for you.
