Singapore shopping spots every foreigner should know!

Singapore shopping spots every foreigner should know!

Singapore is often touted as a shopping paradise. With over hundreds of shopping malls, it is not difficult to see why. Be it for a vacation or after a long day at work, sometimes all you want to do is just head out for some good retail therapy. Here at MetroResidences’ we’ve picked a list of some of the best shopping malls that will definitely satisfy your heart’s retail desires.

Ion Shopping Mall.

Lying in the heart of Singapore’s go-to shopping district of Orchard road, Ion Shopping Mall is conveniently located right above the Orchard MRT Station. Exit the gantries of the station and you find yourself immediately greeted by the aroma of perfume stores. Head up to the first floor and you’re surrounded by laps of luxury, with stores like Prada and Louis Vuitton. For others, there are essentials like Uniqlo, Topshop and many more. Finally, when you’re feeling hungry, head down to the basement for options like Food Opera for local favourites and be spoilt for choice!

Ngee Ann City/Takashimaya.

Ngee Ann City, or more colloquially referred to by the locals simply as Takashimaya, is perhaps one of Orchard Road’s most visited shopping malls. First opened in 1993, it is also the oldest on this list. Despite its age, Ngee Ann City never fails to deliver. Within it lies Takashimaya, a large Japanese departmental store selling products ranging from fashion to food products. If you’re looking to purchase some Japanese made food products, head to the basement of Takashimaya’s and be amazed by the variety of high-quality foods.

VivoCity.

Arguably the largest mall on our list, a trip to VivoCity is not just a trip to an ordinary mall. It’s a mini expedition all by itself! VivoCity is located in the station of Harbourfront, the gateway station to other attractions like Sentosa and Universal Studios Singapore. Roadshows and product events are also often held here given its massive size and popularity with the crowd. Also in the basement of VivoCity, you’ll find Giant the hypermarket store. More often than not, Giant offers great discounts on daily necessities and basic products. Simply taking a walk around the hypermarket is also a great experience.
