Part of Japan\u2019s border controls is that all international arriving passengers are required to have a 14-day quarantine period. The quarantine rules<\/a> are:<\/p>\n

Using public transportation during quarantine and other public facilities is prohibited as part of the Japanese disease control and prevention strategy to tackle this public health crisis.<\/p>\n

Currently, international flights are flying into Narita, Haneda, and Kansai airports. Travellers are NOT allowed to use public transport including trains, buses, taxis, and domestic flights (this includes connecting domestic flights) and share ride services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Private transfers<\/h2>\n

These pre-booked private transfers are the most convenient to travel from the airport to your quarantine accommodation. These are dedicated services to take travellers from airports to their quarantine accommodation. Narita airport is 75kms from the center of Tokyo and costs between 25,000 and 30,000 yen, while Haneda Airport is more central and costs between 12,000 and 20,000 yen depending on your destination and time of travel.<\/p>\n

Car rental<\/h2>\n

There are a limited number of Rental car companies located at the airport. Ensure the company has a depot on-site or is able to leave the rental car in the car park, and with walking distance of the quarantine accommodation. Using a shuttle and other public transport is prohibited. Travellers are required to go straight to their quarantine accommodation without stopping off anywhere along the way.<\/p>\n

Private vehicle<\/h2>\n

Your can get pick up with a private vehicle or you can have your private vehicle left at the airport for you to drive back yourself. Travellers are required to go straight to their quarantine accommodation.<\/p>\n

Airport quarantine shuttles bus<\/h2>\n

Both Narita and Haneda have a dedicated ‘quarantine’ shuttle<\/a> for some local hotels for travellers arriving in Japan. (Use of a hotel’s own shuttle buses is prohibited) In both cases, they are free services but are limited to running about once an hour and only servicing a limited number of hotels. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Important note:<\/span><\/p>\n

The Narita quarantine shuttle bus does NOT go to Narita township or Tokyo. Only to the hotels close to the airport.<\/span><\/p>\n

– Important, business & Resident Track visa holders are not able to use this shuttle. <\/span>A private transfer is required<\/span>.<\/span><\/td>\n

The bus departs from the 1st floor, but the meeting point is on the 2nd floor outside Bic Camera. Look for the uniformed attendant.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tickets can be collected after the arrival PCR test and before immigration.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Airport Limousine Bus<\/h2>\n

The Airport Limousine buses are exclusively for international arrivals and can only be used if using one of the 12 specific hotels for quarantine in central Tokyo. The quarantine hotel list and booking procedure can be found on the Airport Limousine Bus website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Keisei Skyliner to Ueno Station<\/h2>\n

This is a train service from Narita Airport to Ueno station only with a designated carriage with social distancing between seats. Both at the airport and Ueno station travellers are kept separate from the general public with different exits and paths to follow. The basement area of Ueno station is used as the pick-up point for private transfers to the traveller’s quarantine accommodation.<\/p>\n

Bookings can be made on the Keisei website<\/a> or at the Keisei counter at Narita Airport. When booking, the details of the onward private transfer information needs to be provided or the Keisei package has to be purchased which includes a third party private transfer.<\/p>\n

Domestic flights<\/h2>\n

Transferring from an international flight to a domestic flight is prohibited. The 14-day quarantine period must be completed before taking a domestic flight.<\/p>\n
